Sautter Cigar Library – Regentes
NICK HAMMOND reports from a glittering launch party for the latest Cuban Limited Edition cab off the rank…
In Praise of the RASS
AH, the RASS – spoken of reverentially and still one of the great ballads of the Cuban cigar songbook. For the uninitiated, a RASS means nothing at all, but spend more than a few cursory moments observing the cigar scene and you will hear this simple, yet superb cigar mentioned with a wistful sigh by cigar fans with taste the world over.
Seasonal Smoking
THERE was a time when a change of seasons brought about a slew of cigar articles on what smokes went with what particular time of year. Many of these had been pilfered, poached and pillaged to such a degree that they were a real magpie’s hoard of gold nuggets buried amidst an avalanche of flowery bullshit.
Keep chewing, January’s almost through
January’s a long, dark month, isn’t it? It feels like the sort of month you really have to chew through to get down – like that meal your mother in law makes that you’re too polite to leave untouched.
Times They Are A Changin’
There used to be a cigar saying along the lines of: “When a man is in his 30s, he smokes a 30 Ring Gauge cigar; in his 50s, he smokes a 50 Ring Gauge cigar.”
Come On In, The Water’s Lovely
A bright, shining, spanking New Year, with all the optimism, purposefulness – and angst – that goes with it. We at Sautter’s believe there’s a firm middle ground to be taken in most things which will keep your equanimity and also ensure you don’t turn into a rabid attack dog – which admittedly sometimes feels like it’s the only way to get heard these days.
Fair City of Verona
One of the things about cigars which gives me great pleasure is the way they have become inextricably linked with my experiences, travels, the people I meet and the places I go.
Barbecue Bolivar?
Ah, the acrid waft of smouldering lighter fluid; the unmistakable crunch of carbonized pork products; the worryingly soft texture of undercooked chicken. Yes folks, barbecue weather is finally upon us.
