Honduras
I LOVE travel, but boy; it’s good to be home. I’m back at Hammond Towers after a whistlestop tour, taking in five countries in 10 days, albeit most of them only stopovers on the way to somewhere else.
Dortmund
Ah, the smell of Dortmund in the Autumn. I’ve come to love my seasonal jaunts to this funny little German town – usually, it’s a lovely tail end to Summer, with a wistful, melancholy air – and yet this year was the first time the great and the good (and me) of the cigar industry were able to gather for the first time in three years.
Something for Everyone
IT sometimes feels like the cigar industry is moving away from its foundations. Just like oysters – which were once the mainstay of London’s poor, providing cheap, nutritious food on the doorstep and are now the bastion of high-end restaurants – cigars are now seen in many quarters as the ultimate accessory; a benchmark of luxury and success that only the rich can afford to enjoy.
Sampling Galore
DO you remember pick’n’ mix when you were a kid? When you could have a couple of mojos, a blackjack or three, the obligatory flying saucer, a white chocolate mouse, shoelaces, a flump, cola bottles and one of those hideous tasting bananas for just a few of your precious pocket money pennies.
